Blinds are a great option for covering your windows, both internally and externally. Awnings can also be used to create shade outside. Blinds and awnings are available in many designs, and each type of material can offer different benefits. The type of window covering you choose will depend on the aesthetic and the functions that you require.

Interior blinds

There are multiple types of interior blinds available. This includes roller blinds, pleated blinds, roman blinds, cellular blinds, Venetian blinds and woven blinds.

Interior blinds are very customisable. You can choose from a range of colours and materials. This includes materials which block sunlight, allowing your room to be dark. Woven blinds use natural materials such as bamboo. Venetian blinds tend to be made from aluminium or wood.  

Interior blinds can insulate your property, preventing heat loss or gain, which will reduce your energy bills. Some interior blinds can also block UV rays and prevent the sun from discolouring your furniture. You should check the properties of each blind before purchase.

Some blinds will require the use of curtains; this includes woven blinds and some roman blinds. Additionally, interior blinds can be operated through different mechanisms, such as a hand pull chain or an electronic button.

Exterior blinds

Exterior blinds are available in a number of designs, including roller blinds and retractable blinds. Depending on the type of blind, you can either install it yourself or hire a professional to install it.

Exterior blinds can be used to further protect your property from the weather. They provide greater insulation, preventing heat loss from your home and reducing the degree of cold or hot air that enters your home through the windows. They also decrease the risk of your furniture becoming faded from the sun. Furthermore, some exterior blinds can prevent mould and mildew from occurring. This means that exterior blinds can provide long-lasting protection for your property.

Awnings

Awnings can be made from materials such as aluminium, canvas or acrylics. Awnings can be operated manually or by the use of a motor or sensor. Awnings are a great option for providing a shaded area outside of your home. They are available in a number of colours, so you can find an awning to suit your blinds.

Depending on the materials used, awnings can also provide protection from UV rays. Additionally, they can allow even air flow distribution across the awning, keeping the area below the awning cool.
